@3THE WAY AHEAD

As Bessie slowed to a halt the Doctor looked ahead at the way he would
have to go. A clear difference to the lush waters of Gallifrey.
Gallifrey indeed! There he was thinking of his old home again. How he
yearned for it. How he wanted a place that he could really call home.
They couldn`t give him that here. Not even with all their fancy UNIT
secrets and alien intelligence. Oh yes, he didn`t doubt that the
Brigadier often knew a lot more than he said. But trust was important
and change is always difficult to comprehend for a human.

The Doctor looked at the beach that he`d come to see. It wasn`t full of
tourists in the way that he`d expected, just a couple of old people
out in the midday sun. A good place to be alone, he thought, without the
hustle and bustle of human life. And a place for him to lay down the
foundations for his new ideas.
Exile. Of all the things that could happen to him, it had come down to
this. But why? What was wrong with his so called meddling. A chance for
the Time Lords superiority to be questioned. Or a meeting with darkness.
Had he done too much to upset the balance of good and evil.
Here all was peace and tranquility. The tide washing against the rocks
and combing the beach. Happiness. Harmony.
Surely he could have had a worst planet of exile than this.
It really would take some getting used to.
